10 TKI DROWN WHILE HEADING FOR SUMATERA FROM MALAYSIA

Jakarta - Kominfo-Newsroom – Ten TKI (Indonesian workers) drowned Tuesday (30/9) while boarding a boat from Malaysia to Sumatera. The vessel capsized some three km from West Klang seaport, Malaysia, at 07.30 hours local time.

This was on a release of the Ministry for Transportation sent to Newsroom Tuesday (30/9).

Rescue operation was still under way when this release was made, A total of 85 passengers were rescued by the Awana Liverpool oil vessel and 30 others were picked up by tugboat operators.

All survivors were rushed to Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital, Malaysia.

Cause of accident was most likely attributed to over capacity. The boat can carry a maximum of 70 passengers but there were more than 120 on board. (T.tr/toeb/ton)

MAN FALLS FROM 5TH FLOOR OF ISTIQLAL MOSQUE

Jakarta - Kominfo-Newsroom/Antara News – A man fell to his death from the fifth floor of the Istiqlal Mosque here Wednesday (1/10) morning while the Ied sholat was being performed.

Mosque officer Solihin (38) said the man committed suicide as is said in a letter of apology. Police are now tackling the case.

The middle aged man, wearing a sarong, fell down to a point where cars are parked, including police ambulance units and cars of government high officials.

Mosque officials were preparing to take the victim to hospital when a police ambulance did the job.

Location of the incident is at As-Salam gate facing Juanda railway station.

A security man on duty said theman’s name, as contained in an identity card found in his pocket is Halibu Madeong from Lawangrung, Manado, North Sulawesi. He is a driver by profession.

When the accident took place the President and Vice President were performing the Ied Sholat. They were listening to a sermon by the minister for religious affairs. (T.tr/toeb/ton)
